A purr trembled in the orange tabby she-cat's chest as she stole a glance in the direction of Moonwind. Turning her head, she returned the slight sign of... what was it? ...Affection? Thoughts flickered about in her mind at a rapid pace, confusing her reasonably well. She blinked a few times rapidly, to try to get the look of being bemused out of her face. She had never particularly had something like this happen to her, nor did she like her heart to be pulled by emotions that she had never experienced before.
Without thinking, she ran her tongue lightly over Moonwind's ear. Her eye caught the rippling of the tomcat's muscles underneath his pelt, but surprisingly didn't think much of it. With her nose, Amaryllis gently nuzzled the tomcat's fur, another purr sounding out in the air. "This is..." she began, then trailed off, unsure of what to say. "...new."

Moonwind let out a noise rather in between a purr and a laugh. He pushed his muzzle into Amaryllis's ginger fur briefly. When he lifted his head, he looked into her deep blue eyes with his own fiery copper gold ones, and saw confusion and uncertainty.
"Amaryllis," Moonwind mewed softly, addressing the she-cat by her name. "We all love predictability, but sometimes, we just have to give into the new things that come into our lives."
He wasn't one to be all sappy over a she-cat, especially Amaryllis. Most she-cats fell all over him, with his sleek glossy black fur rippling over lean muscles, his fiery golden copper eyes, and his smooth voice. But Amaryllis didn't want to fall over him, she was restraining herself. Moonwind was probably the only tom who bothered to ask why she was like this, and in turn, he was starting to fall in love with the she-cat.

"But..." But what? Why couldn't she accept this new change? Did she honestly and truly want to go back to her old ways, now that a new possibility had opened up in front of her? Emotions twisted and fought against each other within her, causing her to be even more puzzled and bewildered. The perplexity of this was failing to make sense for her, and Amaryllis never particularly liked things that didn't fall into place into her knowledge immediately.
To buy her some time before she had to answer Moonwind's words, the she-cat gazed about around at the scenery surrounding the EarthClan Camp, pretending that she was awed by the beauty of it all. In truth, it was rather nice, now that she had chosen to examine it. Studying it, she came to a conclusion that indeed, EarthClan was actually a relatively nice place. This didn't exactly come as huge surprise to her, but it was just an observation of hers, since she had never really looked at the place where the EarthClan cats had their Camp established.
"Even if they're absolutely frightening and we've never faced anything like them before and you're not sure if you want to go along with it?" Amaryllis meowed, her voice slightly quivering with something -- either anticipation or excitement or fear, or maybe all three combined. She met Moonwind's gaze full on, resolving not to flinch, even though she wasn't quite sure if she could remain looking in to the fiery goldness of them.

"Of course," Moonwind replied, with a hint of tenderness in his voice. He gave Amaryllis's ear another gentle lick. "You don't really want to go back to just breaking tomcats hearts. Never feeling any real emotion. Everyone should have the chance to be in love at least once," Moonwind concluded.

Amaryllis let Moonwind's words take hold in her mind, thinking and mulling them over. They did make the ideal sense that she wanted them to, and she gave a slight nod of her head in understanding. "All right," she meowed, although she didn't particularly know what she was saying those words for. Out of the corner, she saw Shatterwind glaring at her, and she shuddered slightly, but tried to shake thoughts about him out of his mind.
"It's enough to drive anyone mad, this," she meowed in a resigned tone. "Especially when you've been doing things like me."

Moonwind dipped his head in a nod of understanding. He slowly got up, and walked over to Shatterwind.
"Shatterwind," he began, trying to keep his voice level and not shaking. "I know Amaryllis has done things to hurt you, but you have to understand. Her father tried to control her mother, and Amaryllis didn't want to end up like that. She didn't want toms to just control her and abuse her. But...I know she has gone too far...But everyone deserves a second chance."

Shatterwind unsheathed and sheathed in frustration. Did Moonwind not understand? Did he not understand the pain of killing your own friend, having your own friend's blood on your claws? "You don't know what it's like," Shatterwind hissed, "to kill your own friend in a battle over a stupid stuck up little she-cat who is nothing but a malicious little creature who sets toms against each other."
Rage and fury flashed through his eyes as Shatterwind stood, his ears leaning back and nearly pressing against his cranium. His teeth were bared in somewhat of a snarl, pure dislike and disgust sounding in his voice when he spoke. "There are some things that are forgivable, Moonwind, but what she did to me is not." His voice was low and quiet, but you could instantly sense the fact that Shatterwind was being anything but polite and formal. His eyes, filled with a cold look, were like chips of ice.

"You're right. I don't understand what it feels like. And you don't have to forgive Amaryllis. I don't either. But I'm just giving her a second chance. It isn't my decision over your actions, and I can't control what you think. I know you probably hate me for loving her, but I do, and I can't just stop loving someone." Moonwind stole a glance back at the ginger she-cat, then averted his eyes to meet Shatterwind's icy star with his own fiery gold one.
"When you join StarClan, you will be able to see your friend again, and you'll be with him forever.," Moonwind concluded.

"How /can/ you love her?" Shatterwind snapped, frustration flashing in his eyes, a purely angry demeanor lining all the features on his face. "I loved her once. Or maybe not. Maybe I was just like other tomcats, being charmed by her and her malicious and alluring little ways. But you see where that has gotten me now? A broken spirit, a dead friend, and another friend who set out to avenge me, but ended up falling for her completely."
Rage burned in the tomcat's eyes, making the icy blueness of them sharper than ever. Anger caused his body to tense up, threatening for hmi to spring out. He half wanted to attack Moonwind, his old friend, and to kill him.
This thought surprised him. Killing? Where had he gotten that idea from?

Moonwind was getting rather frustrated now, but he could not blame the tomcat, for he had been through alot. And Moonwind wasn't helping by falling in love with the she-cat. But he didn't love her that much really. More like...he just liked her alot.
"Look, Shatterwind. I'm really sorry for following my emotions, but...I guess I wanted to," Moonwind mewed to the tom. "I know you want to fight me. Even maybe kill me. But that won't make things any better. You can if you want. I'm not stopping you."

Shatterwind's ears were now pressed firmly against his cranium, anger flashing through his eyes dangerously as he attempted to calm himself before he pounced in the tomcat he had once adressed as his friend. "You wouldn't believe how tempting that is to kill you right now," the tomcat hissed, "to not have you suffer the pain of her ways." Each word that came out was articulated shortly, and his tone was still icy and clipped.
"But I will not have another one of my friend's blood on my claws -- even if it is a former friend," Shatterwind snapped, his eyes narrowing until they were about all but slits. "Go run along back to her if you want to, but I want you to mark my words." Pausing for a brief moment to let the words sink in, the tomcat then continued.
"She will do you no good."

"She might not," Moonwind replied calmly, his voice now as icy as Shatterwind's."But if she does try to flirt with another tom, I will leave her. And I will always be your friend, no matter what you say to me," he finished, walking away, to the warriors den, looking back at Shatterwind with a softened expression.

After Moonwind ended the conversation and padded off to the warriors' den, Shatterwind rested his head on his paws, deep in thought. His eyes got a rather faraway look, suggesting that he was thinking rather hard and didn't particularly want to be disturbed. He remained still, even when a rather harsh gust of wind blew by. Why did decisions like this have to be so hard?

Bear sat at the side of camp, watching the other cats as they went on with their lives. He groomed himself a bit then settled down to watch again.
.xx.
Maplestar sat on the HighRock outside his den, feeling slightly bad about what he had told Eagledance. If he had met a SkyClan cat, then Maplestar should be the last cat to yowl about being nice to her.
But she's not related to me, one part of his mind meowed sensibly. You don't have any other relatives in SkyClan, other than Onespot and Flamefoot. You have no reason to give him a break.
Still, Maplestar felt bad about it. He would lessen the tomcat's punishment to a quarter of a moon. It wasn't super long. Besides, Maplestar had trusted Eagledance enough to become a warrior, why couldn't he trust him enough to be a loyal warrior?
Maplestar leaped down from the Highrock and padded lightly to the fresh-kill pile.

Ho-hum-de-dum. Where was that Monkeypaw?
Ivorywing, out of her den, looked around for her apprentice, standing patiently as she waited him to burst out of nowhere. She wanted to take him out for a little more training or something, since, after all, a medicine cat's training was actually never truly done until they had accepted all that was their duty without complaint and without dark thoughts and temptation.
A faintly amused expression flickered across the ivory colored she-cat's face, softening the rather serious look on her face considerably. He was probably off having adventures of his own, maybe trying to avoid his duties. She knew that she herself hadn't particularly liked to have to report to her mentor all the time.
