Maplestar turned as he heard Twistedpaw's eager yowling. He heard the young tom out, then nodded. "Sure you can come with us," he meowed encouragingly. "There's always room for another hunter." He glanced around camp again and caught Battooth's eye. "Tell Hailwind to watch the camp!" he called over to the obsidian warrior. "Until then, you two stay here."
Battooth opened his mouth to protest but closed his jaws again before calling, "Alright Maplestar." He flashed Eagledance an apologetic look. "I guess we've got to wait 'til later. But we can talk for a bit, right? Get to know each other a bit more, if it's not too soppy."

"We'll see about that," Crystalrose responded in a light, airy tone, her timidness fading from her emotions when she realized that Maplestar was as friendly and now energetic as ever. "Race you there," she mewed, immediately lengthening her strides and making her paws come in contact with the ground more often as her lithe frame streaked into the forest, her tail giving a slight flick before she darted off to signal towards Maplestar to follow. Well, she shouldn't really be leading the leader, but he probably wouldn't mind.
((-GOING TO THE FOREST- That's another thing. If your cat is going hunting in the forest, you must post something like "Going to ____" and then go roleplay at that board. :3))

Heck, some say I'm strong. Others say I'm dashing and daring. I like myself the way I am, thank you very much. You yourself can make the decision on how much you like me when you speak to me.
A black and white cat padded into the clearing known as the EarthClan camp. His ears twitched slightly as he heard the call of Maplestar from across the Camp clearing. Hearing quite clearly, he heard Maplestar call that he should stay in charge of camp while he was gone.
"He's probably gone off galavanting and romping around with some other cats," Hailwind mewed to himself quietly, amusing glinting in his dark brown eyes. Muscles rippled underneath his burnished fur as he made his way to the fresh-kill pile, selecting a vole for himself. It didn't have a lot of meat on it, but it was still a satisfactory meal nevertheless. After all, life couldn't be absolutely perfect everyday, right?
Take care of the camp, Maplestar had said. Well, there wasn't much to take care of, although he could certainly organize some more patrols. Glancing around the clearing, he could see that the warriors had already begun to do that. Giving a nod of approval, he sat and ran his tongue over his fur, although he truly didn't need a grooming. Although he was a handsome cat, he didn't really care for the thing known as "love". He preferred to be friends with she-cats, instead of something else.

((GOING TO FOREST then )
Battooth glanced up to see Lilywing, one of the other warriors, walking around camp. "Lilywing!" he called. "Have you met Eagledance yet?" He signaled the she-cat over, his eyes sparkling with contentment. Even if he wasn't able to hunt, he'd still make the most of being in camp. He spotted Hailwind eating and called over, "Maplestar told me to tell you that you're in charge while he's gone. If you haven't heard that is. He was making an aweful lot of noise."
((Heh heh, he sounds like those Jenny Craig comercials. I almost typed 'Have you called Eagledance yet))

Lilywing perked up, and bounded over in long, graceful strides. "Hi, Eagledaance." She dipped her head respectfully to the older warrior.

Giving a polite bow back to the ebony warrior, Eagledance released a long breath. Possibly he should go on a patrol? Maybe even go hunting? Yes, hunting would sound good. His haunches seemed to be getting a little weaker since he had last caught anything airbourne, and the african-desended tom needed to keep himself in shape.
It wasn't a compulsion, but merely a task he preferred to do.
Only then did the sweet voice of the she-cat bring him back to reality, and soon he pivoted his obsidian-tufted ears towards her, blinking his piercing eagle-golden eyes in surprise. "Forgive me," he pardoned, dipping his head respectfully.
Ivory jaws parted slightly as he skirted her elegant form over with his exoticly-coloured gaze. "Seems I've become th' new name 'round th' Camp, eh?" he mused with a grin. "'Aven't seen you 'round 'ere. What's yer name?"
---
Overjoyed, he let out a surprised mewl. "Oh!"
Well, this was very much unexpected.
Flicking his long tail excitedly, he was unable to stop the extra apendage from twitching manganimously. Beaming, Twistedpaw bounded over clumsily towards the large leader, whiskers jittering in anxious anticipation. Following the tom and she-cat, whom he was not able to keep up with because of her outburst of great speeds he envied, the murky-hued apprentice staggered behind Maplestar.
"Y-yes! I want to hunt. I want to h-hunt with... the leader! Th-th-the great... great leader of Ear-rthClan!" he boasted, complimenting not only himself that he was in this awe-some Clan, but complimenting the leader to the highest of his abilities. Of course, Twistedpaw also had the eminent delay of his paw, however was not concerned of looking foolish in front of the leader.

Hailwind gave a nod to Battooth, in acknowledgement of the tomcat's statement. "I heard him loud and clear. What's he busy with? Off dashing about with a she-cat?" he mewed, enjoyment and confidence swirling in his emotions that Maplestar felt that he could be trusted enough to take care of the camp while he was gone. Pride also entwined itself with the two feelings, and his chest swelled with happiness. Don't get so cocky! Remember, that can bring your downful! he thought to himself furiously, shaking his head, but still feeling the delighted feeling within him.
"I'll see to the camp, although everything's pretty much under control," he mewed assuredly to himself as well as to the other warriors.
-x-
Ivorywing watched as the scene of cats in the Camp clearing unfolded around her. She gazed with interest at Hailwind speaking to Battooth. After listening intently, she picked up that they were speaking about Maplestar leaving Hailwind in charge. She gave an approving nod. It would be good to get Hailwind some practice at becoming leader, although she didn't want Maplestar to join the ranks of StarClan or to retire quite yet. He still probably had many good, healthy moons left before he required her service in helping him fight to keep his life here on the earth.
Turning her elegant head, she gave her ivory colored pelt - the origin of her name - a few licks. Glancing around, she turned her brilliant bright green gaze so that none would hide. There was Hailwind speaking to Battooth, of course, but the two were also accompanied by the new warrior Eagledance, and the she-cat Lilywing. With a slight turn of her head, she could also see Oakheart and Songbreeze sitting together with a rabbit at their paws. Moonheart and Moonpelt were also there as well.
With a satisfied nod, Ivorywing lowered her head and laid it on top of her delicate paws, continuing to look around camp, trying to shake off the nervous and anxious feeling that she felt. Ah yes, the feeling. It was something that she couldn't ignore, something that kept on making her feel... akward. Although she tried not to show it in public for fear of alerting other cats, she secretly contemplated why she felt so... so... fearful.

Battooth nodded. "Actually yeah," he meowed amused, "He is. He went out with Crystalrose and Twistedpaw." Battooth thought about the young apprentice for a moment. Who was his mentor? 'You should know this,' Battooth told himself. 'Knowledge of your Clan isn't just for leaders and deputies.' The black tom glanced across the clearing and saw Ivorywing watching the camp with her head on her paws. He watched her for a moment, then stood. "I'll be back," he meowed. The obsidian tom trotted to the medicine cat's side and dipped his head. "Hello Ivorywing," he said as pleasantly as possible. "Do you need anything to be done? Any that herbs need to be collected or something like that?"

"Good day, Battooth," Ivorywing responded to the tomcat warrior. She believed that Battooth was well liked in camp, although infamous for his sometimes over-cheery moments. She herself favored him - like she favored all the cats as if they were her kits.
"Nothing is that big of a deal currently," she mewed to answer his questions, her voice soft as always. "Although more juniper berries and watermint might be nice," she added, giving a small nod of her elegant head - more to herself than to the tomcat warrior in front of her.
With amusement, she acknowledged the fact that while Battooth was a raven colored obsidian warrior, she was an ivory pelted medicine cat. The contrast in their coats brought a slight purr in her throat, although it wasn't enough to make her think about the ongoing worry within her about the strange feelings she had as if something bad were about to happen. If something was going to occur, wouldn't StarClan give her some sort of sign to make her acknowledge the fact that an event was going to happen?

Battooth nodded to Ivorywing. "I'll get that now!" he meowed eagerly. He turned to run off but paused. "Um... Ivorywing? What do juniper berries and watermint look like?" He gave his chest a thorough washing to hide his embarassment. He had heard of the herbs a lot before, he had just never seen them. Not even after he had gotten caught in a thorn bush. Or if he had seen them, he didn't remember them.

Blinking placidly, the golden tom cdat lifted his head, pivoting tall ebony ears in different directions, catching snippets of multiple conversations. Running a rose-hued tongue across ivory lips, the tall tom pricked up, lifting himself to stretch. Pulling his strong shoudlerblades forwards, he arched his spine, long thick tail undulating in the soft breeze. Claws unsheathed for a brief moment, Eagledance gave his thick coat a gruff shake, specks of dust and debris fluttering out and glinting off his coat as he did so.
Shifting his deep tawny gaze over towards the underbrush, the tall tom picked up a brisk trot, his exotic way of moving becoming more defined as he moved over towards the forest. His stomach had been bothering him; nudging and prodding him in the sides enough to truly bother him. He hadn't eaten for at least two days now, and however odd it may seem, as typical for him and his own--odd in the Clan he lvied in now--way of life.
Padding out through the dry foliage of leaf-fall, Eagledance parted his jaws to let the fresh and welcoming scents of prey waft into his senses.

Beware a cat that is within the layers of your trust.
Gasping, Ivorywing woke up from her doze within her den. Uneasiness grew within her. Looking around, she realized that she should go into neutral territory to go meet up with Musicsoul, the SkyClan medicine cat. What did StarClan mean by "beware a cat within the layers of her trust"? What could it mean? Ivorywing's bright green eyes clouded with confusion as she managed to make her way out of her den, rather dazed.
"I'll have to tell Musicsoul about this. And the rest of the problems," Ivorywing murmured to herself, trying to calm herself with the fact that Musicsoul would probably have advice on how to deal with this current statement that StarClan had to say. Who did she truly trust? Hailwind? It couldn't be him. Any cat in her Clan? Shaking her head furiously, she thought, No cat in EarthClan would betray our Clan.
Padding out of camp, she made her way to the meadow - the place where the two medicine cats met up to go share tongues with StarClan.

Maplestar padded out of his den, feeling surprisingly energetic. After Gatherings most of the camp was tired, including him. But somehow he wasn't today. He looked around the camp and trotted towards the medicine cat's den. He caught the scent of Ivorywing and realized it led out of camp. Must be that time again, he thought. Medicine cats confused him to no end. They were helpful, sure, but their close connection with StarClan was just a little more than normal. They seemed far too wise- especially Ivorywing- for their age. He sighed and padded towards the fresh-kill pile, grabbing a small vole.

Crystalrose awoke from her doze, although she wasn't quite sure why. After all, the Gathering hadn't been anything eventful - unless you would count the quarrel between two Clan members eventful, which it could be. Who knew? Shaking her head, she padded out of the warrior's den, careful to not step on any tails or paws or anything. Once outside, she sat outside the warrior's den, her eyes deep in thought of what was to come. She saw the whiteness of fur as Ivorywing left Camp - probably to go to the meeting with Musicsoul, the SkyClan medicine cat. Hopefully they would come back with good news for both Clans.
x--
Hailwind opened his eyes, blinking them a couple of times to rid them of sleep. Stepping into the open Camp clearing, he looked around for another cat to converse with. He saw Crystalrose sitting outside the warrior's den. She was pretty in his eyes, yes, but he didn't really look for a she-cat to be his partner - he liked living solitary. Besides, he wasn't one for all the love mush and gush that she-cats usually expected tomcats to spit out. Strange.
Padding up to Crystalrose, he meowed a greeting softly. Crystalrose didn't open her mouth and give a verbal response although she flicked her ears in acknowledgement. In her mind, the current hour was too sacred to fill up with mindless chattering.
x--
The tri-colored she-cat blinked, tilting her head to the side as she watched the other cats in the Camp. There was Maplestar just out of his den while Hailwind and Crystalrose were sitting together in silence. Songbreeze was grateful for the quiet. Surely things at SkyClan couldn't be much nicer than this. She had heard the story of how two apprentices had left the scene of the Gathering from the mouth of Hailwind who probably exaggerated. After his magnificent tale, she had called over to Ivorywing so that the medicine cat could tell her the true story which turned out to be not quite eventful as Hailwind's retelling.

Maplestar looked around camp and spotted his deputy and Crystalrose. "When you're feeling up for it," the tabby meowed, "I'd like you two to find Battooth and go out on a patrol." He took a few bites out of his vole then buried the remains and sat down to wash his coat for a few minutes. It was growing slightly, readying him for the approaching leaf-fall and eventual leaf-bare. There was already some snow, and things were hard enough in the camp as it was.
----
Battooth strolled out of the warrior's den, his tail flicking back and forth and his eyes shining with contentment. He paused to greet Maplestar and give his former mentor a soft swat with his paw before bouncing towards the fresh-kill pile. "Anyone up for hunting later?" he asked as he saw the contents of the pile.
"You are," Maplestar meowed between licks. "You're going on a border patrol first though." Battooth opened his mouth to protest but closed it again and meowed, "Alrighty then. Who's coming with me?"
