I don't want no sympathy. What I tell you ain't no sob story. Just my life. Why I'm here.
Small paws made almost no sound as they padded over fresh fallen snow.
The slim figure of a blue-gray tomcat padded around the SkyClan ridge, but of course, he didn't know that he was trodding on another Clan's territory, because he had no idea where the Clans were. Of course, he knew about them, from other cats who have been to the Clans before, a couple of loners near where he lived.
The cat's name was Blue, and he was what you could call a kittypet. But his owners didn't really take care, of him, they just gave him food whenever they remembered, so he had to hunt for himself.
He sniffed, then dropped into a hunting crouch, stalking a mouse under the shelter of a hollow fallen tree. He got just close enough, then pounced, killing the creature in one swift blow.
He continued on, his ocean colored eyes searching for a camp of some sort, while his short, thick pelt puffed up in the breeze.

The ivory colored tomcat sat quite still, his limbs not shifting against the cold blasts of wind that had seemed to die down before. If he had thought that the lull would last for a while, he had been sadly mistaken. Every few moments, his golden copper colored eyes would sneak a few directions to his right, where a cream-colored she-cat sat near him. Warmth was shared between them, but there was a sense of awkardness between the two.
Although the cream-colored she-cat, dubbed as Mai, was slightly aware of the fact that the tomcat, Cloudpuff, was sneaking a few glances her way every few moments, she couldn't exactly get irritated with him since she herself was also doing the same thing. She was extremely careful to do it only when she was positively sure that he wasn't looking; she didn't exactly want to get caught looking at him the same time he was looking at her, since that would mean that their gazes would probably connect and then it would just be all too awkward again.
Cloudpuff's nose twitched as a rather pungent smell that stood out quite well in the midst of the SkyClan Camp. It stuck out like a sore thumb, and Cloudpuff couldn't say that he had ever smelled it before. What was it? The features of his face furrowed with thought, wondering if he would tell Mai and ask her if she could also smell it.
He didn't have to wait, however. When he stole another glance at her, he saw that she, too, had a rather odd expression on her face. "Who's out there?" he called, his voice coming out perfectly normal as his senses became alert.

Blue's silvery, gray blue ears perked up at the sound of another cat's voice trailed through that air. He realized that he was standing in the hollow log, and slowly came out, in plain view of the cat who had called out. There was another cat next to him, a female with a rather frightened look on her face.
Blue walked over, only about a few fox lengths away from the cats. "Hello," he said as he dipped his head slightly, not exactly showing full respect for a cat who was about the same age as him and whom he didn't know. "My name is Blue."

"Blue, huh?" Cloudpuff meowed in response, his town of voice coming out in somewhat a lethargic manner. "That's an interesting name. Tell me, Blue, why're you out here in the SkyClan Camp?" he asked, training a steely gaze on the tomcat, feeling a sense of protectiveness for his Clan. "What business do you have here?"
How dare he just wander in to the Camp, when the SkyClan scent was everywhere! What was wrong with the tomcat? Did he want to get seriously hurt? Or did he expect pity? Cloudpuff's golden copper colored eyes flashed with the protective look again, although he realized it wasn't just protection for SkyClan he wanted -- he wanted protection for Mai, especially. He glanced down at the she-cat, seeing that she had a rather confused look on her face.

Blue gave a slight smile to himself. This white cat thought he was going to hurt him - and his she-cat. Of course, he could, he thought to himself as he slightly flexed his muscled under his pelt.
"I am here in search of a new home," he mewed coolly. "I guess I am what you could call a kittypet. My owners don't care for me, so I pretty much hunt for myself when they don't care or remember to feed me. I promise, I won't do your, er...Clan any trouble." He thought for a moment, then remembered the mouse he had caught a few moments ago. He bounded over, his long legs bringing him over the short distance to the log quickly, bent down, and picked up the mouse delicately, bringing it back over to the white cat and cream colored she-cat. "For your leader," he said. "If you will be so kind as to show me to him or her," he added.
"Oh yes, what did you say your name was?" he asked, half trying to annoy this cat, just for the fun of it, and half wanting to know this cat's name.

A slight flicker of amusement pulled at the features of her face, dancing in her eyes and lightening her mood considerably well. Mai observed the newcoming tomcat with a serene look on her face, although she had to admit -- she did rather like his demeanor. He seemed like the type of cat you could easily become friends with.
However, Mai wasn't quite sure how well she would be able to be friends with Blue, if friends at all, since Blue had just touched on a question that was touching on the subject that Cloudpuff somewhat disliked. His name. She had only figured that out a few hours ago, but she was now glad of the knowledge before she had asked him why he was called Cloudpuff. It was somewhat of a juvenile name in the eyes of some others, yes, but Mai didn't exactly see any point for him to find shame in it.
Attempting to cut in before Cloudpuff could spit out a harsh retort that would probably result in a skirmish between the two cats, Mai decided to cut in. "It's all right, Cloudpuff. I don't think Blue's going to kill us," she meowed in a calm voice. She barely managed to prevent a wince from spreading across her face when Cloudpuff turned his head to look at her, his golden copper gaze burning in to her face.
From here on out, Mai had to chose her words carefully in case Cloudpuff should come up with the wrong conclusion, as tomcats usually did. "I mean... I don't think there really is much that he can do..." she added, trying her best to meet Cloudpuff's gaze. Suddenly, a sense of defiance rushed through her and she threw caution to the winds. "After all, you weren't so suspicious of me when Foxflower brought me in, were you? No -- instead, you acted all lovey-dovey and affectionate and goodness knows what! I mean, I'm not asking you to act all lovey-dovey to Blue here since that would be absolutely awkward, but you could learn to treat him with a little courtesy, couldn't you?"
After she finished her outburst, embarrassment flooded through her. Had she really just said all those words in the same breath? She cast her eyes downward, slightly ashamed of herself. Looking through her lashes at Cloudpuff, she certainly wasn't quite sure what to make of his expression.
The ivory tomcat's face remained rather still for a few moments, but then twitched and exploded in to a droll and delighted look. "Why, Mai! I didn't know you had a spark in that personality of you!" he exclaimed, purring slightly. Behind his amusement, however, he was secretly surprised -- Mai had noticed his actions towards her.
Looking back at Blue, the tomcat still wasn't quite sure if he could trust him. Hmm. Could he? "The name's Cloudpuff like you already heard Mai here say," he meowed, his voice rather strained as he admitted his name. There would obviously be no use now to attempt to tell stories or lie about his name, since Mai had already said it when adressing him.

]Blue tried not to give a laugh out at Cloudpuff's name, although he would be that kind of cat who would do that. But he instead gave one of his charming smiles, and nodded. "Nice name," he mewed. "And you would be Mai, yes?" he asked the cream colored she-cat Cloudpuff had addressed as Mai. He gave a slight bow, and smiled at her, his blue eyes shining. He wasn't really trying to flirt with her, just having a bit of fun.

Mai gave a slight nod as he made a slight inquiry about her name. She felt Cloudpuff's muscles tense underneath his pelt and felt a protective composure beginning to take on, and a slight hint of anxiousness flickered through her mind. "Yes... I'm Mai," she meowed, so as to cut in to the silence, attempting to halt the palpable tension seemingly coming on in its tracks. "It means 'cherry blossom' in Japanese," she added in a matter-of-fact tone, trying her best to be like one of those she-cats who tittered on about the most random things. She wasn't doing it because she was that type of she-cat, though -- she was doing it for the sake of restraining Cloudpuff from attacking Blue with claws unsheathed.
Sheesh. Some tomcats needed to calm down. Out of the corner of her eye, she could easily detect the fact that Cloudpuff still wasn't particularly happy. He had been all right, but she supposed the somewhat smile that Blue had across his face was ticking him off. Why? It was just a smile. It wouldn't kill him or her.
Cloudpuff's eyes narrowed as he continued looking at Blue. What type of tomcat was this? Was Blue the type of cat to seduce a poor, innocent she-cat like Mai and take her away from him? Or would Blue honestly just hunt for a few pieces of prey and then leave? The tomcat cleared his throat with a little extra noise than necessary. "All right, Blue. You can meet our leader, Northstar, but then you're outta here," he meowed, his voice somewhat strained with frustration.
Cloudpuff wasn't quite sure how he felt. Angry? Annoyed? Like he wanted to hurt Blue? Yeah, those three were a fractional part of how he felt, but there was something else in it. Jealousy? Even though he didn't want to admit it, that was probably the truth. He felt jealous. Mai was chattering on in front of this tomcat, yet she was scared like a mouse whenever he was just alone with her. Thoughts like these began causing more dislike for Blue.

"Mhm, I see," Blue mewed in response to Mai. "Beautiful name," he added. He met Cloudpuff's narrowed gaze with his own cool sky blue one, still smiling a little.
"So, shall we go?" he asked, walking up next to Mai, and looking ahead, wondering where exactly the camp was.

Frustration and anger flashed in Cloudpuff's eyes as he heard what Blue had to say about Mai's name. A growl rumbled in his throat, while his claws sheathed and unsheathed as he began padding in the direction of the SkyClan Camp, which was quite near, actually. How dare this tomcat come and just begin... begin... what was it? Flirting? The features on Cloudpuff's face furrowed slightly in annoyance. The sense of protectiveness began at once to overwhelm him once again as he padded alongside Mai, making sure that his pelt was brushing against hers and making sure that Blue saw.
Mai was his.

Blue looked over and saw Cloudpuff brushing his pelt against Mai's with a rather determined look on his face. Geez, he didn't have to act like he owned her. Blue pressed a bit closer to Mai, so that their pelts were just touching. He didn't really like Mai more than a friend, he was just having a bit of fun with Cloudpuff.

Oh geez. Mai's pelt prickled slightly with a feeling of being uncomfortable as she felt either tomcat on both sides of her. A rather odd feeling came down her spine as she cast side glances at them both. While Blue seemed rather like he was just toying around with Cloudpuff and looked like he was somewhat amused, Cloudpuff's expression was one of being enraged.
And how did she feel? Well, this was just perfectly awkward.
Darting forward to escape the two tomcats, she made her way to the SkyClan Camp she had began to adress as home now that Foxflower had gifted her with joining the Clan. "It's right here -- the entrance is just a few tail-lengths away behind all this heather..." she meowed, her voice disappearing as she made her way farther from the tomcats, padding in to the Camp.
Dislike flittered about in Cloudpuff's eyes; Blue was annoying. And frustrating, and just... like a thorn in his side. The tomcat shook his head and pulled ahead, following Mai closely in to the SkyClan Camp. He looked around, hoping that some of the other cats would come out and confront Blue and dislike him as much as he, Cloudpuff, disliked the tomcat currently.

"...you gotta work it out inn yourself, right darlin'? I got a feelin' ya gotta 'lot a stuff ahead of ya, Smokesoul," she comforted the gray tomcat, bending down her head to brush her soft silvery cheek with his.
Foxflower did not see as he turned away to stare at his smooth paws bashfully.
Blinking with brilliant viridian-tinted eyes, the long haired she-cat raised both brows curiously at the group entering; Cloudpuff, Mai, and another cat. Lifting her round head upwards, she parted her lips ever so slightly, allowing a drift of air to waft to her scent glands. Foxflower's head jerked back. Thick chest puffed out, she kneaded her claws into the soft dirt for a balking moment before springing forth.
"Oh, Northstar ain't gonna be happy with this," she said beneath her breath, trotting up to Mai and eyeing the others.
Smokesoul gathered himself up, watching with bright eyes as his closest friend went up to greet the siamese she-cat, Mai. Whiskers twitching with admiration, he took a tentative step forwards, swivelling his long neck to the side to watch the group and Foxflower interact. For a brief moment, his chest went hot as he watched the the silver feline; a minute later Smokesoul had to gasp for breath, for he had forgotten to breathe.
"Hey, babe," Foxflower purred to Mai and then to Cloudpuff, giving the same greeting to both cats. "And who's this?"

Blue looked around, and seeing a pretty silvery cat with emerald green eyes, he smiled. But his smile faded slightly as he saw the grey cat next to her.
"I'm Blue, miss," he said, giving a low bow to the pretty she-cat, and giving one of his charming smiles to her. He stood up and looked at her. "And your name would be?" he asked, still smiling.

Blinking quickly, the silver she-cat studied this new Blue's frame with unwavering defiance. Foxflower's whiskers twitched. She kneaded her claws into the soft cool earth. What more was there to ask? This new feline was obviously a kittypet--his fur wreaked of twolegs. Exhaling slowly, the feline warrior half-closed her eyes in a thoughtful expression for a mere moment before turning her attention back towards them.
"Blue?" she replied, round ears flicking forwards in question, "Well don't that suit you fine, darlin', ain't it?" She purred in a light chuckle.
With a more serious, attitude-stricken tone, the metallic she-cat lifted her round head, stretching out her thick, strong chest. "Northstar ain't gonna like this, y'all know."
