Honeypaw walked next to Onespt, thier fur touching. Her stomach felt strange every time she looked at Onespto, and her heart was raceing when thier pelts touched. Was this...love?

Onespot felt Honeypaw's closenes and shivered sightly. He realized he didn't walk so close to cats anymore unless they were his sister. How he had changed since Owlpaw had died!
The ginger-headed warrior paused and opened his mouth to draw in the scents of the forest. "How are you doing with your hunting skills?" he asked distractedly. With a pang he realized how he had slipped into a mentoring mode. No, he thought furiously. I tried it before and I failed horribly. I will not take another apprentice. His ears flicked as he heard rustling to his right and caught the scent of mouse. He flicked his tail for Honeypaw to demostrate her hunting skills.

Honeypaw crept into a light crouch, her paws barely touching the ground. When she got close enough, she punced, and killed the mouse in one swift blow. She trotted back to Onespot. "Hw ws vat?" She asked, her voice muffled by the mouse she was holding. She wished Onespot would treat her like a friend, more than an apprentice. "So, what did you like about Owlpaw?" Honeypaw asked, before realizing it would hutr him to talk about Owlpaw. "Sorry", she said.

A soft growl began in Onespot's throat but he pushed it back down. He sighed softly and thought for a moment, his eyes filling with pain as memories swam in his mind.
"She was beautiful," he meowed quietly, almost in a whisper. "She had off-white gray fur, and it was longer than usual. Her eyes were green as grass, and were always sparkling with some crazy scheme or other." He paused for another moment. "She was a fast learner," he recalled, "Always asking me to teach her this, teach her that, teach her something so she could be a warrior sooner."
He looked at Honeypaw. "She was just an all around beautiful cat. Beautiful in looks, beautiful in personality. She was my everything while she was alive. If I concentrate hard enough, I can just barely remember her scent..."
Onespot cleared his throat. "But that is in the past. What's important is that mouse. The Clan will be proud to call you a warrior when you have your naming ceremony." His face was now an expressionless mask, only a tiny bit of weariness showing in his eyes.

Honeypaw was crestfallen, Onespot acting so formally. "I guess she would've meant much more to you than I do--" Honeypaw's leaf green eyes filled with embarresment, and if cats could blush, he cheeks would be deathberry red. She looked up at him, not being able to hide the embarresment and affection glowing in her grass-green eyes.

Onespot stared at Honeypaw in surprise, his mask of nothingness faltering. "Let's focus on your training for now." The tom froze. "Actually, how about we head back to camp? That mouse will be enough." A small part of his mind was telling him that this was a lie, which was obvious. Of course a mouse wouldn't be enough. It would feed one queen for one meal, and it would barely be enough for her kits. But his mind wasn't working properly, and as the tom gazed into Honeypaw's green eyes, he couldn't help but think about another green-eyed apprentice. "Yeah, let's go back to camp. We can come out hunting another time." He turned away from the apprentice, his mind spinning as he trotted briskly in the direction of camp.
((XD, Onespot's really confuzzled))

"You're thinking about Owlpaw, aren't you?" Honeypaw asked gently, her leaf-green eyes filled with understanding. "I get it if you don't want to be with me." She mewed, not knowing if she meant being with her right now, just hunting, or being with her in a relationship.

Onespot halted abruptly and turned to face Honeypaw, his fur beginning to bristle, his eyes shining with hurt. "Who cares if I'm thinking about her?" he spat. "Maybe I want to remember her!"
He glared at her for a moment longer before sighing. "I'm just not feeling up for being with anyone right now," he admitted quietly.

"Sorry", Honeypaw mewed, hurt in her eyes too. She padded past Onespot and toward camp, but glanced back at him, her green eyes filled with confusion and hurt.

Onespot saw the emotions in the young she-cat's eyes, but wouldn't apologize. He shouldn't have to. Right?
The tom stalked past Honeypaw, meowing, "Get your mouse," in a quiet voice as he passed. He felt bad about hurting Honeypaw's feelings, but she had as good as provoked him into doing that. She had asked him to hunt with her, she had brought Owlpaw up, and she had asked him questions about her.
Onespot couldn't help but glance back at Honeypaw, her eyes reminding him eerily of his lost apprentice, before the ginger-headed tom darted back to camp.
