Honey came in a beehive.
Beehives had bees.
Beehives were oftentimes in trees.
So the beehive would be in a tree with bees surrounding it.
Lovely.
Cloudpuff glanced around, his golden copper eyes searching through what little foliage was growing next to the lakeside of SkyClan territory. Although very few trees grew in SkyClan territory, there were oftentimes a few of those trees here. He padded to the nearest one, squinting against the light to see if there was a beehive. No luck, unfortunately.
After a bit more searching, he got lucky and finally found one. It seemed rather odd for a beehive to be there in late leaf-fall, but who said there was anything wrong with the honey in the hive currently? A plan began forming in his mind. Somehow, he would get that beehive.
Scampering up the tree easily, he began padding onto the branch that held the hive. Suddenly, a crack sounded loudly into the silence. Standing there uneasily, Cloudpuff looked behind him -- the branch was about to break. Taking a sharp intake of breath, the branch -- along with him and the hive -- crashed to the ground.
While he had been falling, he had closed his eyes. He opened them and examined himself and his surroundings. Thank goodness he wasn't hurt -- only shaken from his fall. After a while of panting, he remembered about the beehive. It was cracked with bees swarming around it. Not knowing what to do, Cloudpuff approached the hive, contemplating on how to get the honey inside. Without warning, the number of bees turned and began flying in a thick cloud in his direction. Leaping into a bush, he managed just in time to get away without a bee sting. Sticking his head up for a few moments to see the bees flying away, he came out of the bush. He paused for a moment to shake out the unruly burrs that had gotten stuck within his white pelt.
Triumphantly, Cloudpuff came across his hive. Picking it up in his mouth and praying to StarClan that there weren't any lone bees in the hive that could sting him, he began making his way back to Camp, holding the beehive like a treasure. Dreampaw would surely be impressed with him for completeing this difficult feat.
