Throw it away
Forget yesterday
We'll make the great escape
We won't hear a word they say
Raytil lay on the lush grass, staring up at the sky. From his point of view, a faint mirage -- illusion, if you will -- was forming in his mind like a dream. Closing his eyes, he pictured a gray tabby she-cat with a soft blue gaze. "Dewstripe," he murmured softly, saying the gray she-cat's name and repeating it over and over as if he would forget it if he didn't continue to say it.
His brown tabby pelt gleamed in the sunlight for he was sunning himself. Warmth spread through his body, but his mind still felt numb and cold. He needed to find Dewstripe. Glancing cautiously at his owners, plans began forming in his mind. What was he supposed to do? Leave kittypet life and go back to EarthClan, the place he had formerly lived? Well, finding the Clan wasn't an issue -- it was just wondering how they would receive him. Returning to EarthClan would be a hypocritcal move for Raytail -- he had once belonged to the Clan and then he had left his home and his love for the soft life of a kittypet.
Brown eyes were filled with love as he opened them. Dewstripe. Her name whispered in his mind over and over again. The tenderness in his eyes soon turned to concern and worry. Where was Dewstripe now? How was she fairing in these cruel weathers, always sleeping in a cave with other cats? Was she skinny and hungry?
That was it. That was the last straw. Raytail couldn't hold it in any longer -- he /had/ to see Dewstripe again. To smell her familiar sweet scent and to feel her gray tabby pelt touch against his yet again... Oh, that would be pure ectasy and bliss for him.
It was settled. He would run away this very moment. Standing up and shaking the sleepiness from his features, he looked around for a moment. A harsh wind picked up, but he ignored it and just let it ruffle his pelt. Once his twoleg owners were occupied for a few minutes, he instantly leaped forward with strength that his muscles allowed him. He darted away from the twoleg 'park' and into the open.
Dewstripe.
He was going home.
[MOVIN' RAYTAIL TO THE EARTHCLAN CAMP]
They don't know us anyway
Watch it burn
Let it die
Cause we are finally free tonight
Forget yesterday
We'll make the great escape
We won't hear a word they say
