So yeah, I recently read the book 'The Five People You Meet In Heaven' by Mitch Albom. It was really good and I learned a few lessons from it. I thought I'd share them, and give people a chance to share the lessons they've learned.
From 'The Five People You Meet In Heaven':
From the Blue Man:
1. All lives are interrconnected. Trying to separate one life from another life is like trying to separate a breeze from the wind.
From the Captain:
1. Dying is not the end of everything. It is only the second chapter, where you reach heaven and get to make sense of your life.
2. "Sacrifice is a part of life. It's supposed to be. It's not something to regret. It's something to aspire to. Big sacrifices. Little sacrifices" (93). "Sometimes when you sacrifice something precious, you're not really loosing it. You're just passing it on to someone else" (94).
From Ruby:
1. "Holding anger is poison. It eats you from the inside. We think hating is a weapon that attacks the person who harmed us. But hatred is a curved blade. And the harm we do, we do to ourselves" (141). No one is born with anger. You must move on, but to do that, you must first understand why you're angry, and why you shouldn't feel it anymore.
From Margeurite:
1. Lost love is still love, it just takes on a different form. "You can't see their smile, or bring them food, or tousel their hair, or move them arounda dance floor. But when those senses weaken, another heightens. Memory. Memory becomes your partner. You nurture it. You hold it. You dance with it. Life has to end. Love doesn't" (173).
From Tala: ((This one I had to analyze it myself and find the lesson behind Tala's words. I think I did well, but if you've read the book, you can tell me whether you think I'm right or wrong.))
1. Things happen for a reason. You happen for a reason. You might not see it, but it's there. No life is wasted.
