Hazelpaw's emerald eyes widened. "/What/? What do you mean? I-I-I don't know what you're talking about", Hazelpaw's cheeks burned as she realized he in fact /did/ like her.

"Of course you do, Hazelpaw. You were never one to play dumb before, and I truly don't think you should start now," Lilacpaw purred to her sister, flicking Hazelpaw's ears with her tail. "Littlepaw's been hankering after you daily, don't you see?" she added in a question format, looking intently at her sister, the truth of what she said flickering in her amethyst colored eyes. Maplestar saw Rainfeather approach out of the corner of his eye. He turned and looked at the she-cat, his eyes widening as he saw her expression. "What's wrong?" he meowed. "Did something happen?" His blue eyes were filled with worry. What if it was something horrible? What if someone had died? Calm down Maplestar, the tabby told himself, You're too quick to think the worst. You can be sad without someone dying. He waited anxiously for the she-cat's answer.

"Well, I really like Battooth, but I think I messed up. We were jjust goofing off, and I tripped, and I touched his muzzle to his. He just got really serious, and left." Rainfeather's expression brightened as Maplestar actually asked her what was wrong. "And I wanted to ask you, can I mentor Hazelpaw please?" Rainfeather looked at her leader with deep respect to him in her pure azure eyes, for he was an amazing leader.

Crystalrose looked up as Rainfeather approached Maplestar. Concern passed through her eyes as she saw the expressino written across Rainfeather's face. What was wrong? What had happened? Not wanting to intrude, however, she looked down to study one of her brown colored paws, awaiting to hear what Rainfeather had to say. Her ears twitched as she heard what Rainfeather had to say. A mental sigh of relief crossed her mind -- so it wasn't something that called for a life or death situation, at least.

Maplestar wasn't sure how to answer. The very idea of Battooth being serious was just so preposterous to him. He decided to think about that for a moment and answer Rainfeather's second question. "Sure you can mentor Hazelpaw," he meowed. "I'll begin the ceremony soon. As to the Battooth problem... He can be a bit shy sometimes. I learned that back at a Gathering when I was his mentor. I tried to introduce him to a ginger she-cat from SkyClan and he was too embarassed to even look at her. I think that had been Mistheart's friend Flamefoot... Huh..." Realizing he had gone off on a tangent, Maplestar rushed on. "The point is, he might just feel a little rushed. He might like you, and he might not like feeling that way. The last three cats he loved left him. His parents died, and his sister left, and he's probably afraid of having something taken away from him again." He shrugged. "Or I could be wrong, and he's going through a phase. Either way, you just have to give him a bit of time." Maplestar nodded, partly to himself, thinking he sounded rather smart saying these things.

A muscular, slim, cream colored ginger tabby bounced out of the apprentices den, towards Lilacpaw and Hazelpaw. "Hiya, Hazelpaw, Lilacpaw!" he mewed. "So, hows training, Lilacpaw? Did you get a mentor yet, Hazelpaw?" He asked botht the she-cats questions, although it was Lilacpaw he truly favored.

Lilacpaw looked at the apprentice that had walked -- or rather bounded -- into their small group. She purred when she recognized the apprentice as Wildpaw. "Training's been pretty cool," she meowed, excitement sparking through her eyes as she responded to the tomcat apprentice's question, "Battooth is a great mentor, although right now he told me to rest." She felt rather dejected at that order -- she still had a large amount of energy dancing through her.

"Well, maybe we could all go huntinng", Wildpaw mewed, trying not to leave Hazelpaw out. "No, I think I'll stay here", Hazelpaw mewed, guessing that Lilacpaw and Wildpaw were perfect for each other, and were starting to like each other, by Lilacpaw's purring when Wildpaw came over, and how Wildpaw's eyes danced whenever he looked into Lilacpaw's. She flicked Lilacpaw and the shoulder lightly with her tail. "You go ahead", she mewed with a teasing voice. A glimmer of amusement and excitement passed through her eyes, as she thought about her and her sister, both with toms chasing after them.

"Have fun with Littlepaw," Lilacpaw meowed quietly to her sister in a good-natured tone as she turned her gaze on Wildpaw. "You're on," she purred, "the first one to catch three pieces of fresh-kill wins." Turning towards the exit of Camp, she planned to put the knowledge that Battooth had given her while she hunted. "Starting now!" she called out as she darted out of Camp, a purr trembling in her chest.

Lilacpaw returned to Camp, proudly carrying the three mice she had picked up along the way. A purr trembled deep in her throat, remaining there for a few moments before she could finally place the mice down in the fresh-kill pile. Once it was there, she settled down at the fresh-kill pile to groom. Running her rough pink tongue over her blue-gray fur a few times, she looked around for Hazelpaw, although her sister was probably speaking with Littlepaw.

[THE ENTRANCE OF LIGHTBREEZE && SMOKEHEART]
"Lightbreeze, you're fairer than a beautiful green-leaf day with nothing but a gentle gust of wind pulling through to rustle the leaves on all the foliage." "Smokeheart, please. Like that's true." "But Lightbreeze, it truly is. You're voice is like the faint ripple of the lake, so melodic and so honey sounding." "Smokeheart, please. I don't need flattery." "I'm not flattering you, precious, I'm just stating the simple truth. You make my heart pound furiously whenever I see you, for I'm mad for you, Lightbreeze." "Smokeheart, stop it-" "Nonesense. Why should I stop?"
The scene in Camp currently was a smoky black tomcat hankering after a silver spotted she-cat. If you looked into the tomcat's brown eyes, you could easily see that affection for the she-cat was quickly blossoming in his heart and soul. He pressed his dark colored pelt against her silver colored one, all the while purring compliments to the she-cat.
From their verbal speech, you could easily tell that the she-cat was called Lightbreeze while the tomcat went by the name of Smokeheart. Lightbreeze was a good-natured cat, although she could get rather impatient pretty easily. Right now, Smokeheart was trying her patience to nearly the limit. Smokeheart was, as you could see, an annoying cat you could say, but his agitating of other cats was just because he held Lightbreeze so dear to him. In his eyes, there were no other she-cats as beautiful as her. She was just... everything he ever wanted.
"I don't know how StarClan was able to bless me with such a beautifuly exquisite and radiant she-cat in my Clan." "Smokeheart, please. I understand that you like me, but please... can this wait until some other time? You're kind of... embarrassing me..." "Lightbreeze, what does that matter as long as we have love?" "Love?" "Yes, precious, love." "But isn't it too early?" "What other tomcats are there that're handsome?" "Well, there's Eagledance, and-" "Faugh! Eagledance! I laugh at his name!"
And indeed, Smokeheart mocked Eagledance's name. He didn't exactly /laugh/, although he certainly did spit at the ground at the mention of the black pelted warrior's den. Eagledance? What kind of name was that for a /warrior/ cat? In Smokeheart's mind and eyes, Eagledance was just some annoying little tomcat that would be better off being a kittypet.
Lightbreeze, however, seeing no problem with Eagledance, looked up at Smokeheart. A rather hurt look passed through her eyes as she gazed at the tomcat that loved her so much that it was actually rather scary. "What's wrong with him?" she meowed uncertainly, tilting her head to the side as she looked at Smokeheart.
"Nevermind Eagledance, Lightbreeze," Smokeheart meowed, swiftly changing the subject back to Lightbreeze in a different manner. "You're so serene and calm... You're like a beautiful flower that has yet to be plucked and placed in a bouquet -- I will be the other flower in that bouquet," he purred to the she-cat.
The funny things that being madly in love made you do and say, eh?

A ginger she-cat walked lightly into the EarthClan camp, her medum-length flame-colored fur flowing and bouncing sround her. She looked over at the two cats - Smokeheart and Lightbreeze, and thought Smokeheart to be quite handsome. Her amber eyes glinted with the slightest hint of affection, but shook her head.
She wouldn't get her heart broken again.
Her white paws kissed the frosted earth lightly, but her thick dark orange fur kept her warm. She stole a glance over in Smokeheart's direction once more, this time catching his eye, a glimmer of affection in her own gaze, before reaching the fresh-kill pile.
She felt a thud come into her side, ruffling her fur, and looked around to see a cream-colored apprentice bashing into her. "Wildpaw?" She mewed to him, a bit of irritation in her voice, but laaughter lightened its sweet melodic tones. "Wintersong?" The apprentice mewed. "Do you know anything about love?"
"Love?N-n-o, not really", Wintersong mewed back, not wantong to tell the hopeful apprentice that your heart could be broken in an instan just by telling someone you love them.
"Oh", Widpaw mewed , walking away. He would've asked loads of questions if Wintersonghad actualy said "yes", but she had said no, so he walked round camp, waiting for Lilacpaw to return.

Lilacpaw, excited, darted up to Wildpaw. "So what d'ya want to do now?" she asked eagerly, bouncing up and down with her tail sweeping in an almost "dog-wagging" position, although no cat that still had their dignity would admit to doing so. She watched him, awaiting his answer with her ears twitching with impatience. Aside from having Battooth as a mentor, a fellow apprentice that she could play with that was as hyper as her -- besides her sister, of course.

"What's so wrong about Eagledance?" Lightbreeze asked, a slight look of hurt crossing her features as she looked at Smokeheart. What made the smoky black colored tomcat discriminate so against the foreign warrior? She tilted her head as she looked at the tomcat, unsure of why he seemed so eager to put Eagledance down with insults.
"Everything!" Smokeheart spat, bitter anger passing through his eyes. Suddenly, though, he became aware of the slight bit of hurt in Lightbreeze's verdigris colored eyes and instantly became sensitive and aware of her feelings. He rubbed his muzzle against hers, pure affection for her showing deep in his eyes.
Lightbreeze didn't know what to make of Smokeheart. While he was indeed a handsome tomcat and had a good tempered personality -- most of the times, anyway -- this insulting of Eagledance just wasn't quite working for her. "What makes you hate him so much?" she murmured uncertainly, meeting Smokeheart's gaze firmly.
"Well, to start, his little accent! Does he think that his accent will make his feathery words sound so beautiful?" Smokeheart meowed, pure venemous hatred against Eagledance sounding in his voice. "But nevermind Eagledance, let's talk about you," he purred to the she-cat warrior, touching his muzzle to hers yet again and kept it there, delight flickering through him as she didn't pull away from his touch. "Your voice is like the faint murmur of a stream moving languidly on a hot green-leaf day. Your eyes are deep pools of beauty while your pelt gleams in such a certain way in the sunlight that the beautiful silverness of it always catches my eye," he purred to Lightbreeze.
